Heme-BMT/CHF/Nighttime Hospitalist

Job details:

Heme-BMT
The UCSF Heme-BMT Hospitalist Service is a collaborative service involving the Division of Hospital Medicine and the Division of Hematology/Oncology at UCSF. The service provides inpatient care to patients requiring bone marrow transplant or management of malignancies of the hematopoietic system (“liquid tumors”). The service admits approximately 1200 patients per year.

Created in July 2007, the Heme-BMT Hospitalist Service is staffed with a unique hybrid model involving collaborative care provided by both hospitalists and oncology faculty. The hospitalists on the Heme-BMT service are physicians trained in Internal Medicine who manage the day-to-day care of the patients while the oncology physicians provide the necessary oncologic expertise. The service is organized in teams involving an oncologist, a hospitalist, and a nurse practitioner.

The service is dedicated to providing the highest quality, safest, and most compassionate and patient-centered care. The Heme-BMT Hospitalist Service thrives on a team model, where nurses, pharmacists, and physicians work closely together to maximize patient-centered care.

Please contact Sanjay Reddy ([email protected]) for any questions.

CHF
The Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Hospitalist Service is a collaborative service involving the Division of Hospital Medicine and the Division of Cardiology at UCSF. Hospitalists on the CHF Service are responsible for providing inpatient care to patients with advanced heart failure and pulmonary hypertension, as well as to patients who are pre- and post-heart transplantation. Hospitalists care for these clinically complex patients both in and out of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in an open ICU model optimized for continuity of care. The patients are co-managed with a group of CHF cardiologists. The cardiologists and hospitalists round on patients together and make medical decisions collaboratively. This highly successful co-management model allows for the best possible management of these complex patients--both their general medical problems and advanced cardiac disease.

The hospitalists on the CHF Service also independently manage patients with low risk chest pain or syncope for monitoring and possible stress testing or echocardiogram. The General Cardiology Consult Service provides backup for the management of these patients when needed.

The CHF Hospitalist Service is dedicated to providing excellent specialized medical care to patients with cardiac disease. The CHF Service also exemplifies the unique spirit of collaboration between the Division of Hospital Medicine and Division of Cardiology at UCSF Medical Center.

Please contact Sanjay Reddy ([email protected]) for any questions.

Nighttime Hospitalist
The Nighttime Hospitalist Service (NHS) provides uniform and direct nighttime supervision of medicine housestaff, nighttime education for medicine housestaff, and nighttime coverage of medicine services not staffed by housestaff. Three night hospitalists are in-house overnight with specified roles and responsibilities. Two of the night hospitalists are the general medicine hospitalists, and the third night hospitalist is the sub-specialty medicine hospitalist covering the CHF Co-management Service and the Advanced Lung Service. The hospitalists provide clinical care at staggered intervals: from 7:30 pm - 7:30 am for the sub-specialty hospitalist, and 9 pm - 9 am for the general medicine night hospitalists. In addition to the night hospitalists, the night team at Moffitt-Long Hospital consists of multiple residents and the occasional medical student.
